About Garden Bed Math
What Garden Bed Math does, how each garden tool and record is made, where its numbers come from and how to report a mistake.

Garden Bed Math is a set of free planning tools and printable records for gardens in the United States. It covers how much soil or mulch to buy, which hardiness zone you garden in, and where to write it all down.
How pages are made
- Each page starts from a calculation or a lookup. The formula is written out in words, with a worked example you can check by hand.
- Any number from outside the formula, such as a bag size, a mulch depth or a zone, comes from a published source. The page names the source and the date we checked it. If we can't find a source, the field stays empty and the page says so.
- Every calculator has test cases that must pass before a release goes out. The zone data is checked row by row against the published listing on every build.
- Each tool links to a printable record, so the numbers end up on paper in the shed.
What we don't do
We don't recommend pesticides, herbicides or fertilizer products, diagnose pests or plant diseases, or say whether a plant is safe to eat. The tools measure, plan and record.
Who publishes it
Garden Bed Math is published under its own name. There are no sponsored pages. Where a page names a product, it is to cite a published figure such as a bag size, not to recommend it. If we add affiliate links later, each one will be marked and disclosed on the page where it appears.
